Coffeyville - Glen William Lewis, 92, of Coffeyville died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Medicalodge of Coffeyville where he had been a resident since September 2006. Mr. Lewis was born July 11, 1916, the oldest of nine children, in Iola, Kansas to Jess William and Hattie Mae (Behner) Lewis. At the age of sixteen, Mr. Lewis began working at the Roof n Tile Brick Plant to support his father (who had been injured), his mother, and eight brothers and sisters and two nephews. Visitation with family present will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 in the Parlor of the First United Methodist Church at Tenth and Elm Streets in Coffeyville. Arrangements are under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Services celebrating Glen Lewis' life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 in the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville, with Revered John Collins officiating. He is preceded in death by his parents, Brothers, Delbert, Roy, Marvin, and Kenneth; Sisters, Gertrude, Irene, and Maxine; and wife, Lorene Anna (Pitzer) Lewis in 1997. Glen was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Coffeyville. The Black Dog Camping Club of SEK. He was an adult leader of the Bob White 4-H Club of Montgomery County for more than twenty years. He did wood carvings for many years after his retirement from Farmland Industries. He sold many of his carvings at local craft shops and fairs and ALL of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have favorite carvings of Dad and Granddad. Mr. Lewis farmed 40 acres SW of town for more than 50 years. He raised registered Jerseys and Herefords for show at county, interstate and state fairs. Gardening was also a family favorite. He raised chickens, pigs, an old horse, cats, dogs, and goats. He had an orchard and a vineyard on this farm plus wheat and hay crops. Mr. Lewis is survived by one brother, Babe C. Lewis and his wife Inez of Coffeyville. His children are daughters, Phyllis Ann Beeson and husband John of Coffeyville, Judith Kay Ford and husband Dr. Donald Ford of Wann, OK; sons, James Paul of Coffeyville, Donald Eugene and wife Villa of Neodesha, and Gerald Glen and wife Yvonne of Gilbert, AZ. Grandchildren, Johnene (Beeson) Marcum and husband Richard of Panama City, FL, Kathy (Beeson) Gregory of Gardner, KS, Donald Eugene Lewis II and wife Anduirea of Owasso, OK, Lynn (Lewis) McIntire and husband Jeff of Bakersfield, CA, Kevin Pool and wife Jamie of Coffeyville, Kimberly (Pool) Johnston of Bartlesville, OK, Loretta Lewis of Mesa, AZ, Matthew Lewis and wife Courtney of NC, Olivia Rogers and Nicholas Greenleaf of Gilbert, AZ. Great-Grandchildren, Donald Eugene "Trey" Lewis III, Kelsey Horton, Abby Horton, Dylan Lewis, Spencer Gregory, Dallen McIntire, Blake McIntire, Jessica Lewis Anna Pool, Emma Pool and Jack Johnston. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church of Coffeyville; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N.
