Everett W. Burrows, 82, of rural Caney, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 6, 1926 at Greeley, CO to William and Katherine (Olson) Burrows. He moved to the Copan, OK area when he was 9 years old, the family later moved to the Wann, OK area where he attended Antioch rural school and Wann School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In 1948 he married Wilma Robinson. They made their home in the rural Wann and rural Caney where they raised their family. They later divorced.
On November 1, 1965 he married Suzi (Moser) Harr. Following their marriage they made their home in rural Caney where Everett farmed and ranched for 58 years, he was also active with his brother Alfred in Burrows Brothers Construction for several years.
He was a member of the Tyro Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 in Coffeyville and the American Legion in Caney. In 1958 he was named Outstanding Young Farmer by the Caney Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Suzi of the home; three daughters, Glenda Sue Bowdre of Parsons, KS, Carole Louise Daniels of Tulsa, OK, and Lori Ann Cox of Copan, OK; one step-son, Henry Harr of Prague, OK; one step-daughters, Maria Ullrich of Dewey, OK; two brothers, Alfred Burrows, and Harvey Burrows both of Wann, OK; one sister, Dora Mae Hines of Carl Junction, MO; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronnie Lee Burrows, one step-son Stephen Harr, six brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro with David Bycroft officiating. Burial will follow in the Wann Cemetery with military honors conducted by V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20 of Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
