Alvin A. "Sonny" Robinett, age 73, of Dearing, Kansas passed away Friday, August 15, 2008 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas.
He was born November 12, 1934 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Albert and Alpha (Hitchcock) Robinett. He lived in the Coffeyville area and attended Coffeyville Schools before moving to California and later coming back to the Coffeyville area where he spent most of his life.
He and his wife Sharon have owned and operated S&S Upholstery in Dearing for over 20 years. He also was a personal care giver. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing bingo.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home in Dearing, Kansas; three sons, Gary and his wife Kathy Robinett of Cherryvale, KS, Rick and his wife Edee Robinett of Rowlett, TX, and Ronnie Robinett of Coffeyville, KS; two daughters, Elaine and her husband Esam Abdu of Coffeyville, KS, and Tina and her husband Ernie Shelby of Miami, OK; one brother, Darrell Robinett of Bakersfield, CA; one sister, Pauline Luiz, of Mansfield, MO; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty JoDean Robinett; two grandsons, Gary Lee Smith and Jason Robinett.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2008 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Coffeyville, Kansas and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. the family will receive friends at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, KS with Reverend Wayne Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, KS.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Dearing Volunteer Fire Department and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
