Bobby G. Allan, age 75, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas.
He was born December 24, 1932 in Kaw City, Oklahoma to Joseph Young and Opal Mae (Bunker) Allan. He lived in rural Elgin, Kansas and graduated from Peru High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
He married Shirley Mae Dunn in 1952. They later divorced. He married Barbara Evans on December 17, 1977 at the First United Methodist Church in Wauneta, Kansas.
He worked as a diesel mechanic at Morton Equipment in Sedan, Kansas. He was also a farmer and an oil field pumper. He currently owned and operated a tractor repair service. He was currently living in rural Elgin, Kansas where he had lived since 1937.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Chautauqua.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Allan of the home in rural Sedan, Kansas; one son, Bobby D. Allan of Peru, Kansas; one daughter, Sharon Vaeth of Choctaw, Oklahoma; one step-son, Bert White of Parsons, Kansas; one brother, Merle Allan of Chautauqua, Kansas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan, Kansas and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with the family receiving friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Sedan with Reverend Jerry Bever officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas with military rites conducted by United States Army Honor Guard, Fort Riley, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Chautauqua County 4-H or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
