Carrie Carra, age 79, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas.
She was born on May 27, 1929 in Greensburg, Kansas to James and Gladys Leona (Arvin) Rouse. She attended schools in the Haverhill and Oil Hill area.
On October 15, 1948 she married John Carra, they later divorced. She has been a Sedan resident since 1969.
She worked as a nurse's aide at the Hays Hospital, Sedan City Hospital, and at the Cedar Vale Nursing Center for 43 year retiring in 1989.
She attended the Assembly of God Church in Cedar Vale. She loved needlework, painting and puzzle books.
She is survived by two sons, Larry and his wife Sandra Rouse of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Calvin and his wife Carolyn Carra of La Cygne, Kansas; three daughters, Sandra and her husband Henry Kirchner of Peru, Kansas, Diane and her husband Jerry Hollins of Sedan, Kansas, and Linda and Ive Thompson of Arkansas City, Kansas; three brothers, Jim Rouse of Augusta, Kansas, Bob Rouse of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Lawrence Rouse of Kingman, Kansas; one son-in-law, Robert Walker of Sedan, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter Janice Walker, her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.
Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Assembly of God Church in Cedar Vale, Kansas with Rev. Norman Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Vale Cemetery.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Relay For Life and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
