Obituary of Stephen W. Bowman

Stephen W. "Steve" Bowman, 88, Caney, KS, died Wednesday in the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 11, 1919 in Aline, OK to Stephen H. and Sarah (Perkins) Bowman. He graduated high school at Kaw City, OK. He served during World War II in the Air Force for a short time before receiving injuries and an honorable discharge. He was a pipefitter, employed by Local 412 of Albuquerque, New Mexico until his retirement in 1985. Stephen also worked at Boeing and because of the experience he had working on aircraft, was hired to work on planes during WWII. Stephen is survived by one son, Woody Bowman of Caney, KS; two grandsons, Shawn Bowman of Kauai, HI and Shane (Kasey) Bowman of Caney, KS; one granddaughter, Sholene (Kevin) Willis of Joplin, MO; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Bowman is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, G.W. Bowman who passed away in 2003. Following Mr. Bowman's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family suggests donations in Stephen's memory be given to the Caney Valley High School Athletic Department. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
