Obituary of Glenn Howard Heinlein Sr

Glenn Howard Heinlein, age 92, of Sedan, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.
He was born November 2, 1921 in Harveyville, Kansas to Arlie and Eunice (Wilkerson) Heinlein. He was raised in the Ottawa area where he graduated from Ottawa High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II. He was honorably discharged five years later.
On June 5, 1943 he married Betty Smith in Ottawa, Kansas where they made their home before moving to Sedan in 1950. Glenn was a butcher at Harmon’s and Floyd’s Supermarket before being hired as the Kansas State Meat Inspector and worked for twenty seven years retiring in 1994.
Glenn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sedan, lifetime member of both the VFW and American Legion in Sedan, also a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge; former member of the Sedan Country Club; enjoyed golfing, bowling, and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of seventy one years, Betty Heinlein of the home in Sedan, Kansas; three daughters, Glenda Street and husband Ron of Americus, Kansas, Mary Keeny and husband Curtis of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Janet Fortune and husband Bill of Moore, Oklahoma; one son, Glenn Howard Heinlein Jr and Linda Heinlein of Sedan, Kansas; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place and a service is not scheduled at this time. Glenn will be inurned in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan at a later date.
