Valerie Clark, age 51, of Edna, Kansas passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at her home.
Valerie was born on June 8, 1956 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Calvin and Velma (Ferguson) Rittenhouse. She grew up in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School. Upon high school graduation, Valerie moved to Tacoma, Washington where she attended business school and received a vocational certificate. After completing school in Tacoma, Valerie moved back to the Coffeyville area and in 1984 married William "Bill" Clark.
Valerie spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader in the Coffeyville area and also enjoyed being an active member of the Central Church of the Nazarene. Valerie and her husband Bill also were involved with the SEK Hillbillies.
Valerie performed secretarial work for many years, working for the Corp of Engineers, Liebert & Liebert Attorney Office, Windsor Care, Medical Lodge, and Sheldon Enterprises.
She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Clark, of the home; one daughter, Amanda Collins of Coffeyville; two sons, Andrew and Aaron Clark of the home; her mother and step-father, Velma and James Pippin of rural Coffeyville, Kansas; two brothers, Calvin R. Rittenhouse and Terry Rittenhouse of Coffeyville; two step-brothers, Tony and John Pippin; one step-sister, Julie Countryman of Coffeyville; and 3 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Central Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville with Reverend Dan Strange officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
