Obituary of Wilfred G. Torres

Wilfred G. Torres, age 88, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born September 14, 1925 in Los Angeles, California to Esteban and Virginia (Galvan) Torres. He was raised in California and attended schools in Los Angeles. He enlisted in the United States Navy serving his country until he was honorably discharged. He worked as a Cement Mason for over fifty years and also owned and operated a garage door installation company until he retired at the age of 80. On July 8, 1978 he married Gracie Mae Allen in Sun City, California where they lived most of their married life in California before moving to Sedan, Kansas in December of 2013. Wilfred was a past member of the Moose Lodge in California; he enjoyed working on cars and playing golf. Survivors include his wife, Gracie Torres of Sedan, Kansas; five sons, Steve Torres of Las Vegas, Nevada, Wilfred Torres Jr. of Humble, Texas, Phillip Torres of Sonoma, California, Andrew Torres of Anaheim, California, and Benjamin Torres of Goodyear, Arizona; one brother, Simon Torres of Rancho Cucamonga, California; two sisters, Frances Haga and Dora Rangel; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous brothers and sisters. Cremation has taken place and a service will be scheduled at a later date in California.
