Obituary of Glenn Dale Gorley

Glenn Dale Gorley, 87, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK.
He was born October 3, 1926 at Pittsburg, KS to Gideon Scott and Bessie Elizabeth (Seymour) Gorlery. Glenn grew up and attended school in Weir, KS.
Glenn was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.
In 1953 he married Deloris Walker at Wichita, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Wichita, where Glenn was employed at Boeing. They moved to Kansas City when Glenn accepted a position as an Airplane Mechanic with TWA Airlines, they were later transferred to Los Angeles, CA. Following his retirement from TWA they moved to Coffeyville in 1978 where they owned and operated Dairy Lane for many years.
Glenn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved working for his church and especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris of the home; one son, David Shane Gorley and his wife Theresa of Coffeyville; two daughters, Wilma Jean Merryweather and her husband Charles of Cedar City, UT, and Janel Oliver and husband Todd of McKinney, TX; daughter-in-law Darlinda Gorley of Hyrum, UT; son-in-law Franklin Gilliland of McKinney, TX; one brother, John Henry Gorley of Nowata, OK; three sisters, Reba Fay Gorley of Wichita, Retha May Ferguson of Weir, and Elizabeth Ann Scott of Weir; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dell Eber Gorley; one daughter, Pamela Sue Gilliland; two brothers, and one sister.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Independence, 507 Mulberry St. with Bishop Jeff Hogge officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, Fort Riley, KS.
Friends may call on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
