Obituary of Philip D. Smith

Philip D. Smith, 67, of South Coffeyville, OK, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 23, 1947, at Ottawa, KS to Eugene V. and Beverly D. (Studebaker) Smith. Philip grew up and attended school in Caney graduating from Caney Valley High School. Following high school he graduated from Coffeyville Community College, and Pittsburg State University where he received his Bachelor Degree in Education. Philip married Treva Taylor and they had two children, Christopher and Sherri. He later married Connie Robinson and they had a daughter Lindsay. He taught math and science at Field Kindley High School for many years. Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, boating, and spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. Survivors include one son, Christopher Smith of Vinita, OK; two daughters, Sherri Smith of Stillwater, OK, and Lindsay Armstrong of Bartlesville, OK; one sister, Vicki Smith of Bartlesville, OK; two brothers, Michael Smith and Timothy Smith both of Coffeyville, KS; and three grandchildren, K'Sea Cleveland of Stillwater, OK, Daylin Armstrong and Aubrianna Armstrong both of Bartlesville, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service celebrating Philip's life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Knight officiating. Friends may sign the register book on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
