Obituary of David B. Brown

David B. Brown, 69, of Coffeyville, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born June 29, 1945 to Joe B. and Bette L. (Root) Brown in Coffeyville, Kansas. David attended elementary school in Dearing and graduated from Wayside High School. He also attended Coffeyville Community College and Pittsburg State University. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War era serving in the U.S. Air Force. On June 17, 1965, David married Marijo Dunn in Edna, Kansas. David and Marijo owned and operated the Fourth Street Laundry in Coffeyville for many years. He also served as Pastor of the Wayside Christian Church in Wayside, KS for many years, He was a third generation minister, his grandfather; Rev. J.B. Brown and his father; Rev. Joe B. Brown were both longtime minister in Montgomery County. He was a member of the Wayside Christian Church. David enjoyed restoring old cars and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all loved spending time with is his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to his wife, Marijo, he is survived by his two sons, Michael Brown and wife, Kathleen of Webb City, Missouri and Dr. Mark Brown and wife, Melinda of Carl Junction, Missouri, five grandchildren, Seth, Zakory, Maggie, Brody and Ashdyn and one great-grandchild, Maxten. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wayside Christian Church in Wayside, KS. Burial will follow at the Fawn Creek Cemetery northeast of Tyro, KS. Friends may call Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family has suggested memorials to the Wayside Christian Church or Cancer Treatment Center and may be left in care of the funeral home or mailed to David W. Barnes Funeral Home , 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
