Elmer L. Oestman, 68, of rural Coffeyville, passed away Saturday (October 27, 2007) at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 30, 1939, at Grainola, OK, to Richard and Ella (Wolff) Oestman. He grew up in the Chelsea, OK area where he attended school, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1958.
Elmer moved to the Coffeyville area in 1965 when he began working at Acme Foundry, where he was employed as a core maker until retiring in 1998.
On June 29, 1986 he married Karen Sevier at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they continued making their home in the Coffeyville area.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville, and was a member of Promenade Square Dance Club.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of the home; one step daughter, Wynona Brewster of Independence; two step sons, Troy Frazier and Tony Frazier both of Coffeyville; one brother, Vernon (Elva) Oestman of South Coffeyville, OK; one sister Leola (Lawrence) Rippe of Newkirk, OK; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 31, 2007) at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jane Brigham-Graham officiating. Burial will be in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Promenade Square Dance Club; contributions may be left with funeral home.
