Obituary of Mina Augusta Caswell

Sedan - Mina Augusta Caswell, age 87, of Peru, Kansas passed away early Tuesday morning, October 23, 2007 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was born August 30, 1920 in Nowata County, Oklahoma to Thomas M. and Mary D. (Moore) Long. She grew up and attended school there until the 7th grade. She married Kenneth W. Caswell on October 27, 1939 at the Methodist Parsonage in Tyro, Kansas. They lived in Wann, Oklahoma for two years, later moving to Neodesha, Kansas and living there for six years. After moving to Tyro, Kansas and living there for eight years, they moved to Peru in 1985. Her husband Kenneth preceded her in death on November 12, 2000. She was a housewife and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Caney. She is survived by three sons, Leon Caswell of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Bill Caswell of St. Paul, Kansas and Ben Caswell of Peru, Kansas; two daughters, Claudia Dhooge of Greeley, Colorado and Laura Lumley of Peru, Kansas; one sister, Lahoma Deiley of Picher, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth and sixteen brothers and sisters. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2007 at the First Christian Church of Sedan with Leon Caswell officiating. Interment will follow at the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas.
