Obituary of Phillip E. Woollard

Phillip "Gene" Woollard, 76, of Coffeyville, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 26, 1938, at the family farm in rural Valeda, KS to Em3ry and Mary Lee (Pierce) Woollard. Gene grew up on the family farm and attended rural school near Valeda, he graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont and Coffeyville Junior College.
Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1961 to 1963 during the Vietnam War. After receiving his honorable discharge he worked for Rockwell International in Tulsa, OK.
In 1964, married Beverly Andrews, they had one son, Mark. They were later divorced.
He returned to the Valeda area in 1983 and began working in Computer Information at Funk Mfg. Co. now John Deere Coffeyville Works.
On April 25, 1997, he married Judy Hoover at Miami OK. Following their marriage they made their home in the Coffeyville area where Gene continued to work at Funk's until retiring in 2000.
Gene was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022, American Legion Post #20, and Hillcrest Golf Course. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, mushroom hunting, and Quail and Pheasant hunting, but most of all loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of the home; one son, Mark Woollard and wife Charlotte of Pea Ridge, AR; one step-daughter, Brenda Pursley and husband Ron of Coffeyville; two step-sons, Brian Noble and wife Linda of Bartlett, KS, and Brad Noble and wife Shannon of South Coffeyville, OK; two sisters, Pat DeMott of Bernice, OK, and Jenene Russell of Edna, KS; five grandchildren, Andrew Woollard and wife Katelynn, Wesley Woollard, Jared Woollard, Shelby Noble, and Rowdy Noble; and one great-grandson, Brantlee Woollard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Diane Massey officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Creek Cemetery west of Bartlett, KS.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or V.F.W. Post #1022; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
