Janet Elaine Pursley, 68, of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at her home.
She was born May 1, 1946, at Coffeyville to Roy and Mavis (Mayfield) Thomason. Janet grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School. Following high school she attended Beauty School and became a licensed Beautician.
On August 3, 1963, she married Jack Pursley at the First Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home and raised their daughters in Coffeyville. Janet worked as a Beautician, and later worked at Jan-L's Flowers for several years before owning and operating a flower shop in Independence, she then accepted a position in the business office at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center where she worked until retiring in 2009.
Janet enjoyed reading, fishing, and cooking, and loved to travel and go to the casinos, but above all things she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Pursley of the home; two daughters, Melinda Cook and husband Jeff of Coffeyville, and Jennifer White of Bixby, OK; one sister, Lynette Phiillips of Coffeyville; and grandchildren; Michael and Halie O'Connor, Chase White, Connor White, Ireland White, Gracen White, Caitie Cook, Claire Cook, and Jeffrey Cook.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Veterans Memorial Patio in Fairview Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, OK, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
