Obituary of Pauline Ruth Green

Pauline Ruth Green, 93, of Chautauqua, Kansas passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan. She was born March 5, 1921 in Utica, Kansas to Carl Anson Smith and Ethel (Jacka) Smith. She grew up in Ness County, Kansas and graduated high school as Valedictorian. She later went on to nursing school in Topeka, Kansas and graduated as Valedictorian in her LPN class. She married Frank B. Green and he later preceded her in death. She worked and the Sedan City Hospital and Pleasant Valley Manor as an LPN for many years until her retirement. She lived in Chautauqua for many years where she was the Mayor for numerous years. She was a member of the Chautauqua Baptist Church and she loved to garden (flowers and vegetables) and she also enjoyed dancing. She is survived by her three sons; Rodger Green, Carl Green, and Frank Green; one brother Grant Smith; twelve grandchildren, twenty Great-Grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chautauqua Baptist Church with Brother Kevin Fogerty officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chautauqua. Family and friends may call on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family has requested memorials to the Chautauqua Baptist Church and can be left in care of the David W.
