Harold D. Reed Jr., 56, of Peru, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at his son’s home in rural Niotaze, Kansas.
He was born on July 17, 1958 in Caney, Kansas to Harold D. Reed Sr. and Edna Mae (Reed) Reed. He attended school in Sedan and graduated from Sedan High School in the class of 1976. He married Piolet Ann Loveland and they were later divorced. He made his home in Peru and later married Karen Annette Standridge.
He worked in the oil fields for many years and worked as a carpenter for many years.
Harold was the caretaker of the Peru Cemetery; he also loved pitching horseshoes and fishing.
He is survived by his mother, Edna Mae Reed of Peru, Kansas; three sons, Nick Reed and fiancée Julie Adcock of Rural Niotaze, Kansas; Dustin Standridge of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Tyler Reed of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth (Betti) Brookover of Denver, Colorado and Tracy Ann and husband Norty Frickey of Denver, Colorado; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold D. Reed Sr., one son, Stephen Paul Reed, and his first wife Piolet Ann Loveland.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Peru Cemetery with Reverend John Warring of the First Christian Church in Sedan officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
