Obituary of Eulalia Marie Betts

Eulalia Marie Betts, 94, formerly of Coffeyville, passed away at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma Saturday, January 3, 2015.
She was born to Fred and Lila (Conklin) Dunn in Elgin, Kansas on January 16, 1920. She grew up and attended school in Elgin, graduating from Elgin High School in 1938.
On February 21, 1940, she married William J. Betts in Sedan, Kansas. Together they had a son, Gary. They lived in thirteen different states due to William's work. Following his death Marie moved to Elgin, KS and then later to Coffeyville. Marie moved to Bartlesville, OK in 2011 to be closer to her family.
Marie was a long time member of First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville in 2011. She was a 51 year member of Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron two times, Associate Matron two times, District Aide once, and held many other positions.
She had enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, quilting, knitting, embroidery, reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, motorcycle riding with her husband and son, and also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1974 and her son, Gary in 1996.
She is survived by one brother, Freddie Dunn and wife Ethel of Pawhuska, Oklahoma and one sister, Dora Deanne "Dee" Alloway of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, three grandchildren, Travis Betts and wife Robin Lee of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Robin Rae Harper and husband Mike of Ochelata, Oklahoma, and Autumn Beerman and husband Roger of Montana, five great grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 8, 2015 in the Elgin Community Center (due to inclement weather) at 11:00 a.m. and followed by the burial at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Kansas with retired Minister Tom Cox officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family has suggested memorials be made to The Journey Home Hospice Facility or Comforting Hands Hospice that may be left at the funeral home or mailed to David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
