Kenneth D. Nodine, 79, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at his home. He was born October 8, 1935 at Miami, OK to Ode and Glenneth (Buckmaster) Nodine. He grew up and attended school in Miami, graduating from Miami High School. Kenneth joined the U.S. Army on April 23, 1955. After joining the Army he was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany where he met his future wife Sigrid Theil. The couple married in January 1958, shortly after their marriage they returned to the States where he was stationed at Fort Sill, OK where they began their family. During his 21 years in the U.S. Army he we awarded numerous medals and awards. After 21 years, three tours in Germany, one tour in Korea, one tour in Vietnam and three daughters later he retired from the military on October 31, 1975, they moved to Tampa, FL where the couple later divorced. While living in Tampa he attended college for Hotel and Restaurant Management. After completing college he moved to Coffeyville where he managed "The Coffeyville Family Steakhouse" and later owned and operated "The Family Steakhouse" with his daughter, Sharon and her husband Mike Adamson. He later moved to Independence, KS where he continued working in the food service industry by helping numerous businesses become established. After retiring in the Spring of 2005 he returned to Coffeyville where he made his home, he enjoyed many car rides with his dox Max and being a always open Taxi driver for his grandchildren, and full time auto mechanic for his daughters. He never really did retire as he was always head chef at all family functions. Survivors include three daughters, Margarit Nodine, Sharon Adamson, and Monika Myers all of Coffeyville; ex-wife and close friend, Sigrid Nodine; grandchildren, Nichole and Dawson Grant, Tony and Maranda Adamson, Taylor Adamson, Alex Nodine, Brittany Nodine, Kayla Myers and Stephanie Myers; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Kirksey, and Shirley Nodine both of Tulsa, OK; two brothers, Joe Nodine and wife Thelma of Raleigh, NC, and Lawrence Nodine and wife Kathy of Tuscaloosa, AL; and many nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Burdis Nodine, Alvie Nodine, and Donnie Nodine; one sister, Nina Nodine Wulf; and one son-in-law, Mike Adamson. Following Kenneth's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at a later date.
