Obituary of John Phillip Cox

John Phillip Cox, 82, of Caney passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was born December 11, 1932 to John Barry Cox and Doris (Hamilton) Wilson in Coffeyville, Kansas. He lived in the Tyro and Caney area most of his life. John married Charlotte Transue on June 12, 1952. They had two children. He served in the United States Air Force. John was also a member of the Tyro Christian Church, American Legion Post #138and the V.F.W. Post #1022 in Coffeyville. He was a lifelong welder and pipe fitter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Charlotte and one brother, Paul Cox. He is survived his son, John Cox of Caney and his daughter, Rhonda Ellis also of Caney, five grandchildren, Callie Cox, Hailey Cox, Ashlyn Moore, A.J. Walker and Chandlar Ellis and two great-grandchildren, Jaxson Moore and Jazmin Walker. Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 14, 1015 at the Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kanas at 2:00 p.m. with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #20 and V.F.W Post #1022. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
