Obituary of Calvin Thomas Transue

Calvin Thomas "T.C." Tom Transue, 67, of Afton, OK formerly of the Angola, KS area, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. He was born August 8, 1947, at Coffeyville to Calvin and Jo Evelyn (Goodson) Transue. Tom grew up and began his education in the Angola area, and graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He was a Crane Operator for many years working on projects throughout the United States, as a member of Operating Engineers Local #101. Tom made his home in the Afton, OK and Cleora, OK area for several years. Tom was a member of the American Legion in Bernice, OK, and V.F.W. in Afton, OK. He was a good mechanic and enjoyed working on old tractors and boats, and enjoyed fishing. He loved joking with people and spending time with his family. Survivors include one daughter, Tammie Mann of Hume, MO; two grandsons, Dylan of Nevada, MO and Wyatt of Hume, MO; one sister, Linda Driskill and companion Lloyd Hopkins of South Coffeyville, OK; and four brothers, Jerry Transue of Angola, KS, Jim Transue and wife Cathy of rural Coffeyville, Tim Transue of Coffeyville, and Donald Transue of rural Coffeyville. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2015, at the North Edna Cemetery with Pastor Gary Stevens officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
