Obituary of Irene Venters

Sedan - Irene Venters, age 93, of Sedan, formerly of Cedar Vale, Kansas passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan. She was born October 11, 1914 in Maple City, Kansas to Edward and Ida May (Sullivan) Gassett. She grew up and attended school in Cedar Vale. She married Edward Venters in April of 1935 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1964. She lived in the Cedar Vale area all of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Cedar Vale Baptist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by two daughters, Sonya Boothe and her husband Richard of Clearwater, Kansas and Shirley Mills of Sedan, Kansas; one sister, Nadine Ralston of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; two sisters and one brother. Cremation has taken place and friends are welcome to sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, October 17 through October 19, 2007 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan with Earl Tresner officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the People's Place of Cedar Vale or the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home of Sedan.
