Obituary of Tony Allen Benson

Tony Allen Benson, 62, Of Noxie, Oklahoma, died at his home on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Tony was born November 10, 1952 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Paul and Fern Benson from Wann, Oklahoma. He attended grade school at Witwer and graduated from Wann High School in 1971. He married Tammy Lee King on April 25, 1974 and the two made their home in Noxie, Oklahoma. Tony worked as a foreman on the Fitzsimmons Farm until 1979 when he went to work for MOKAT Drilling. He remained there until 1992 when he went to work at WATCO where he retired in 2008 for medical reasons. Tony and Tammy had three children; Trampas and Kasi Benson of Noxie, Oklahoma, Travis and Casey Benson of Coffeyville, Kansas and Tara and Marchy BigEagle of Lenapah, Oklahoma. Altogether, he had seven wonderful grandchildren whom he adored. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Fern Benson, two brothers, Lonnie Benson and Paul Benson and one sister Doris Yuebanks. He is survived by his wife Tammy, of the home, sons, Trampas and Travis Benson and his daughter Tara BigEagle and a sister-in-law whom he considered his daughter, Gretta Cantrell. He is also survived by his brothers, Clifford Benson, Robert Benson, Larry Benson, Bennie Benson, Ivan Benson and one sister, Treva Yuebanks. Graveside services will Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas with Rev. Bill Bath officiating Friends may call on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund for Tony has been set up with the Pleasant View Church of God in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
