Chester Henry Marsh was born on the May the 8th, 1931 on a farm in Doniphan County, Kansas just west of the town of Troy, Kansas. He was the sixth son of Daniel Booker Marsh, Sr. and Katherine Molly Marsh and passed away on January 31, 2015. He attended grade school at Herzing #4 rural school. He then attended Troy High School. His family moved to Highland, Kansas in 1948 where Chester finished High School. He attended Highland Community College for one year before transferring to the University of Missouri in Kansas City where he graduated with a degree in Dentistry. Chester then entered the U.S. Air Force's Officer Training School; his first assignment was in San Juan, Puerto Rico as a dentist in 1955. While stationed in Puerto Rico he met and married Beverly Elizabeth Adam of Derby Line, VT, their first Elizabeth Ann, was born in 1958, followed by Paul Adam in 1959. After their discharge from the Air Force, they moved their family to Caney, KS where he opened his first dental office in 1959. Their third child, Thomas Chester was born in 1962. Chester built and thrived in his dental practice for 47 years. He particularly enjoyed working with children and seeing the positive impact his orthodontics could make; his practice was such an important part of his life. He helped form and participated in the Neosho Valley Study Club, which helps dentists and their families in times of need. He was involved with the Kansas Dental Society, the Southeast Kansas District Society and served on the Dental Peer Review Board. Chester was an active participant in many social activities in the community including the Caney United Methodist Church, Caney Golf Club, Caney Chamber of Commerce, USD 436 School Board, Jaycee's, Masonic Lodge #324 and Lions Club. Chester was preceded in death by his wife Beverly in 2008. He remarried in 2009 to Naomi Rogers Young, who survives at their residence in Caney, KS. Chester is also preceded in death by his parents Dan and Kate; brothers, Clifford, Bob, Warren and Dan. He is also survived by his children, Beth and husband Tim Rigdon of Caney, KS, Paul and wife Shari of Derby, KS and Tom Marsh and Van Dalton of Dallas, TX; brothers, Roger and wife Mabel of Oak Grove, MO, Walter and wife Jean of Deer Park, TX and sister Margaret and husband Harold Benfer of Lufkin, TX, brother-in-law Chester and wife Sally Adam of Denver, CO. Chester is also survived by grandchildren, Jerod Rigdon and wife, Jennifer, Joel Rigdon and wife, Esmeralda, Lauren Thornton and husband Brantley, Kyle Marsh, Abby Dillow and husband Justin, Katy Kaufman and Elly Kaufman as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Tyro Christian Church, 301 S. Market, Tyro, KS. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 6:00p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Caney United Methodist Church, 114 N. High Street, Caney, KS. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Caney United Methodist Church; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS
