Deborah Joy Clough, 79, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. Deborah was born January 7, 1936 to Charles and Valeria "Babe" Clough in Winfield, Kansas. She was raised in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1954 and Coffeyville Community College in 1956. In 1958, she received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Arkansas and moved to Kansas City, Kansas to teach at Central Junior High School. She received her Master's Degree from the University of Kansas in 1964. In 1969, Deb began teaching psychology at Kansas City Kansas Community College. In 1976, she was promoted to Dean of Community Education and held that position for 14 years. Realizing that retirement would not be far away, she resigned that position and returned to the classroom to again teach psychology, since teaching was her real love. Upon her retirement in 1996, she was inducted into the Midwest Educators Hall of Fame. Deb returned to Coffeyville in 1998. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law Charles "Pug" and Jackie Clough, her nieces and nephews: Cindy and David Baldwin, Jon and Mary Clough, Nancy and Kendall Garton; nine great-nieces and nephews and eight great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Chapel, 304 W 10th St., Coffeyville, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the Coffeyville Historical Society or a charity of your choice and can be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS, 67337.
