Obituary of Betty Louise Fildes

Betty L. Fildes, age 83, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at her home in Sedan. She was born March 18, 1931 in Fillmore, California to John C. Downey and Garland O. (Thompson) Downey. She grew up and attended schools in Fillmore, California graduating in the class of 1949. On August 21, 1948, she married Howard Dean Fildes in Fillmore, California. He was the love of her life. They lived in Ventura, California where Howard was a citrus farmer until his retirement. They then moved to Sedan in 1981 where they owned and operated a cattle ranch for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 13, 2003. Betty then moved to Sheridan, Wyoming for four years before returning back to Sedan. Betty was a member of the Church of Christ in Sedan; Betty also was very dedicated to her family. She loved decorating her home, especially at Christmas time. She is survived by two daughters; Deborah Hall and husband Ted of Sheridan, Wyoming and Denise Fack and husband Ed of Sheridan, Wyoming; two sons, Darrell Fildes and wife Vickie of Paso Robles, California and Douglas Fildes of Sedan, Kansas; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Donald and Gerald Downey and her parents. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Sheridan Wyoming. Her ashes will be inurned at the Riley Cemetery, East of Sedan, Kansas.
