Mary Elizabeth Mitchell, 87, lifelong resident of Caney, Kansas passed away Tuesday, February 10 ,2015 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mary was born September 24, 1928 at Caney, Kansas to Samuel Curtis and Mary (Walker) Mitchell. She attended Caney schools and retired from Farmland Industries Refinery after 40 years of service. She worked actively in local, district and conference of the United Methodist Church all her productive life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Samuel Curtis Mitchell, Jr.
She is survived by one brother, James A. Mitchell and wife Donna of Claremore, Oklahoma, four nephews, one niece, one grandniece and one grandnephew.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tyro Methodist Church in Tyro, Kansas with Pastor Dan Carr officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, Kansas.
Friends may sign the register Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Tyro United Methodist Church or the Caney Valley Historical Society and can be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
