Obituary of James Doyle Wright

James Doyle "J.D," Wright, 77, of Coffeyville, KS passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Windsor Place. He was born November 6, 1937 to Orval C. and Gladys O. (Castleberry) Wright in Pangburn, AR. He grew up and attended school in Searcy, AR. James married Charlene Brundage on February 17, 1958 in Kansas City, MO they had four children. He was a minister for the Church of God churches for fifty-four years, serving churches in Heber Springs, AR, Jonesboro, AR, Flat River, MO, Grandview, MO, Des Moines, IA, West Memphis, AR, and Pine Bluff, AR, before moving to Coffeyville in August of 1988 where he served Lewark Church of God until retiring in August of 2010. In his spare time James enjoyed writing books, a commentary on the Book of Revelations, and a Sermon Resource Manuel were among his published works. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ethel Marie. Survivors include his wife, Charlene of the home, two sons, James Doyle Wright, Jr. of Wister, OK and Ernie Wright of Edmond, OK, two daughters, Tammy Kauhi of Coffeyville, KS and Rebekah Palmer of New Castle, OK, thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 at the First Assembly of God Church in Coffeyville with Bishop Chrissey, Bishop Rice, and Bishop Cossey officiating. Burial will follow at the Spring Hill Cemetery, north of Coffeyville. Friends may sign the register Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Lewark Church of God. The family suggests memorials to the James Wright Scholarship Fund established at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
