Obituary of Gladys L. Lumley

Gladys L. Lumley, age 87, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan. She was born February 20, 1927 in Winfield, Kansas to James Milton Rozar and Helen Alma (Fleming) Rozar. She grew up and attended schools in Winfield, Kansas before graduating from Winfield High School. On July 3, 1958 she married Robert Leroy Lumley in Sedan, Kansas. They made their home in the Peru area all of their life. Gladys worked at ACC in Independence, she worked at Pleasant Valley Manor as a cook, and she also cared for people in their homes. Gladys was a member of the God’s Lighthouse of Prayer Church in Peru and also the Peru Senior Citizens. She is survived by her husband Robert Leroy Lumley of the home in Peru, Kansas; two sons, Milton Monroe Berryman of Coffeyville, Kansas and John William Berryman of Peru, Kansas; one sister, Nancy Davis of Conway, Missouri; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other family members. She was preceded in death by two sons; Thomas Vincent Berryman and Larry Austin Berryman; five brothers, two sisters, and her parents. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at God’s Lighthouse of Prayer in Peru, Kansas on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Frank Mundy officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
