L. Dale Wallace, age 85, of Sedan, Kansas passed away, Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dale was born on April 20, 1929 in rural Sedan, Kansas to Clarence C. Wallace and Nina (Leonard) Wallace. In 1951, Dale enlisted in the United States Army and served until he was honorably discharged in 1953. On February 26, 1955 he married Clara Belle Dye in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They lived most of their life in Chautauqua County. Dale did electric work and also was a pumper for Denman Oil Company for over fifty five years retiring in 2002. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sedan. He loved his family and especially his kids and grandkids. Dale is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clara Belle Wallace of the home in Sedan, Kansas; two sons, Kent Wallace and wife Mary of Port Neches, Texas and Vent Wallace and wife Deanne of Dickinson, North Dakota; two grandsons, Casey Wallace of Port Neches, Texas and Brandon Wallace of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Rita Hebb, the daughter he never had. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Ray Wallace, three sisters, Altha Thorne, Inez McAfee, and Blossom Fine and his parents. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas with Reverend Mark Davis of the First Baptist Church officiating. The casket will be closed and friends may sign the register book on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the First Baptist Church and remembrances may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
