Thelma B. Holt, 89, of Afton, OK, formerly of South Coffeyville, OK, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at the Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw, OK. She was born on January 21, 1926, at Yuma, AZ to Willis Henry and Bertha Eula (Young) Hilton. When she was young her family moved to Mountain Grove, MO, where she grew up and attended school graduating from Mountain Grove High School. On December 31, 1942, she married Marcus Lee “Dick” Holt at Mountain Grove, MO. Following their marriage Dick served in the Army during World War II while Thelma lived with her family in California. In 1947, they moved to South Coffeyville, OK where they made their home and raised their family and became active members of the community. In the early 1980’s they moved to their hone on Grand Lake. Her husband preceded her in death on May 20, 1994. Mrs. Holt was raised in the Church of Christ. In her free time she enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, reading, and helping others, but most of all loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Hoffman and husband Rick of Tulsa, OK; one son, Mark Holt and wife Linda of Katy, TX; one sister, Jodenna Hilton of Quapaw, OK; one sister-in-law, Bernita Ranes and husband Floyd “Bud”; seven grandchildren, Lee Holt and wife Chris of South Coffeyville, OK, Anita Graue and husband Larry of South Coffeyville, OK, Rickey Hoffman and wife Kim of Tulsa, OK, Jenna Hoffman of Dallas, TX, Matt Hoffman and wife Stacey of Sand Springs, OK, Trevor Holt of San Antonio, TX, and Taylor Holt of Katy, TX; six great-grandchildren, Tara Meek and husband Andy, Josh Holt, Faith Graue, Lauren Hoffman, Anna Hoffman, and Brinlee Hoffman; one great-great-grandson, Blake Meek, and numerous nieces, and nephews for which she had great affection. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and three brothers. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Fairview Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
