Obituary of Dessie May Warren

Dessie May Warren, 77, of Dearing, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was born May 18, 1937, at Phoenix, AZ to Edmond Earl and Juanita Marie (Lipe) Shutte. When she was young her family moved to Springdale, AR where she attended school graduating from Springdale High School. In 1955, she married Fred Rister at Coffeyville, KS. They had two children Ted and Cindy. The couple was later divorced. For many years Dessie owned and operated a Café and a Rock Shop in Black Hawk, CO. In 1988, she married Dusty Warren in Colorado. Dusty preceded her in death. Following her husband's death she moved to Dearing. Dessie enjoyed collecting rocks, making jewelry, gardening and traveling. Survivors include one son, Ted Rister of Dearing; two sisters, Ellen Griffeth and Juanita Finerty both of Springdale, AR; two brothers, Ronald Shutte of Collinsville, OK and William Shutte of Coffeyville; and four grandchildren, Elisha Rister, Jennifer Rister, Tiffani Peterson, and Meagan Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Cindy Peterson, and two brothers, Wilford Shutte and Arthur Shutte. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville with Chaplain Mike Graham officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
