John Francis Mangan, 75, of Coffeyville formerly of Cherryvale, passed away Saturday (September 22, 2007) at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 25, 1931 at Parsons, KS to James Louis and Hazel Marie (Corf) Mangan. He grew up in Cherryvale were he attended school and graduated from Cherryvale High School.
In 1951 he married Peggy E. Baggely, they were later divorced.
John was a painter by trade working for Medicalodge in the southeast Kansas area, and as a self employed painting contractor until his retirement.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Survivors include one daughter, Jana Myrick of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Doris Pugh of Carthage, MO, and Thelma Krueger of Decatur, AL; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Anita Mangan of Coffeyville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Susan Gail Mangan in 2003, and two brothers Jim Mangan and Mike Mangan.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (September 26, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (September 27, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery at Cherryvale.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family requests memorials to the Holy Name Catholic Church Building Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
