Opal M. Todd
Opal M. Todd, age 89, of Coffeyville, Kansas formerly of Sedan, passed away early Friday morning, September 21, 2007 at her residence in Coffeyville.
She was born February 22, 1918 to Samuel and Martha (Heistand) Booher in Dexter, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Dexter. She worked in the drug store in Arkansas City, Kansas and later at J.C. Penney's. She married Charles Todd on January 13, 1945 in Arkansas City, Kansas. They moved to Texas after their marriage, living there until 1953 when they moved back to Sedan. After moving back, she did laundry at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan for five years. Charles preceded her in death on March 10, 2007.
She was a member of the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas and was involved in 4-H as an instructor.
She is survived by two daughters, Tamara Datson of Coffeyville, Kansas and Debra Royal of Sedan, Kansas; one son, Jim Todd of Afton, Oklahoma; one sister, Louise White of Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents, and five brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 23, 2007 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, September 24, 2007 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas with Pastor David Bycroft of Tyro Christian Church officiating.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361 or 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
