Obituary of Wayne L. Jones

Wayne L. Jones, 84, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at his home. He was born January 16, 1931, in Coffeyville to Floyd and Thelma Mae (Curran) Jones, Sr. Wayne grew up and attended school in Coffeyville. Wayne was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. On July 31, 1952, he married Deloris J. Hull at San Francisco, CA where Wayne was stationed with the Marines. Following his honorable discharge in 1954 they returned to Coffeyville where Wayne returned to work at Builders Supply later known as Home Lumber Co. he was promoted to Manager in 1972 and continued working until Home Lumber Co. closed in 2005. His wife preceded him in death on March 24, 2015. He was a member of the American Legion and on the SEK Vo-Tech Construction Advisory Board. Wayne enjoyed working with wood, remodeling several houses and refinishing furniture. He also loved motorcycles, and working in his yard. He was an avid Red Ravens fan. Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Williams of South Coffeyville, OK; two grandsons, Chris Williams and wife Tosha, and Chad Jones, all of Coffeyville; five great-grandchildren; one brother Floyd Jones, Jr. of Angleton, TX; and one sister Delores Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Pam Wasson, one sister and one brother. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2015, at the Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio with Pastor Doug Mund of Grace Fellowship officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Friends may sign the book Monday, June 15, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials be made to Downtown Coffeyville, Inc. and may be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
