Charles Long, 89, of Coffeyville passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Windsor Place. He was born on February 2, 1926, in Edna, KS to V.O. and Etta (Carlton) Long. Charles was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. On September 30, 1953, he married Bernadette Gerdes in Bartlesville, OK. They made their home in Coffeyville, where Charles worked at and co-owned Moon-Hill Electric where he worked as an electric motor rewinder for over 40 years. His wife preceded him in death on March 9, 2009. He is survived by one son, Mark (Celine) Long of Bartlesville, OK; one brother, Bill Long of Coffeyville, KS; two sisters, Betty Hillmeyer of Florida and Mary Jacobs of Florida; five grandsons, three granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren soon to be six. He is preceded in death by his wife Bernadette Long and his parents. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday June 19, 2015, at Grace Fellowship in Coffeyville. Military Honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20, Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday June 18, 2015, at David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday June 18, 2015, at the funeral home.
