Obituary of Nicole Marie Sherwood

Nicole Marie Sherwood, 18, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Independence. She was born November 22, 1996, at Independence to Michael Sherwood and Angela (Bruce) Birney. Nicole grew up and attended school in Independence, Cherryvale and Coffeyville, she was continuing her education at Coffeyville Community College. Nicole attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Coffeyville. She loved Art especially drawing. Survivors include her daughter, Ayva Marie French of the home; her mother and step-father, Angie and James Birney of Coffeyville; sisters, Darah Miller and husband Gage of Pittsburg, Edyn Sherwood of El Dorado, Josyln Sherwood of Independence, brothers, Alexander Sherwood of Independence, special siblings, Jade Ramirez of Independence, and Langston Polk of Thayer; and grandparents, Dennis and Rebecca Bruce of Independence, and Michael James and Gail Sherwood of Davenport, IA. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, David and Kandy Smith. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Mother Antoinette Tackkett officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Friends may call on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials for the benefit of her daughter Ayva being established at Cooperative Credit Union in Coffeyville; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
