Obituary of Charles E. Cox

Charles E. Cox, 66, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Charles was born to Claude H. and Flossie Marie (Hurt) Cox on October 22, 1948 in Coffeyville, Kansas. He grew up in Coffeyville and attended Coffeyville schools. He also lived in the Topeka, Kansas and the Tulsa, Ok areas before returning home to Coffeyville.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. After his discharge he worked for the Coffeyville Police Department and the Topeka Police Department for several years before becoming a salesman for a Ford Dealership in Tulsa, OK, after returning to Coffeyville he worked at Country-Mart.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sister, Carol Bidleman of Coffeyville, KS and three nephews.
A Memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating. Military rites will be provided by V.F.W Post #1020 and American Legion Post #20.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church or to David W. Barnes Funeral Home to help with expenses and may be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David. W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
Friends may sign the register Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, August 3, 2015, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
