Obituary of Betty Jean Allen

Betty Jean Allen, 79, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Windsor Place Assisted Living. Betty was born September 14, 1935 in Blanchard, OK to Steven T. and Georgia (Spain) Dockins. She lived in Blanchard, Ok, Nowata, Ok and Pea Ridge, AR where she attended school, graduating from Pea Ridge High School, her family settled in Coffeyville, KS. Betty married Robert Hanson, with whom she had 4 children; Debbie, Cathy, Karolyn and Connie. They later divorced. She then married Jessie Allen and had 2 children; Mike and Cheryl. They also divorced. She was the Dietary Manager at Medicolodges for 33 years before retiring in 2005. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, antiquing, cooking and helping with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Life Point Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Mary Agnes and 1 grandchild. She is survived by her children, Debbie Parsons and husband Richard of Olathe, KS, Cathy Smith and husband Gail of Coffeyville, KS, Karolyn Morris and husband, Jeff of Coffeyville, KS, Connie Johnston and husband Troy of The Woodlands, TX, Mike Allen and wife Melissa of Coffeyville, KS and Cheryl Allen of Coffeyville, KS and one step-daughter, Linda Banzet and husband, Terry of Forsyth, MO, thirteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Alene DeWitt of Shawnee, KS and Maxine Tate of Clovis, NM and 2 brothers, George Dockins of Las Vegas, NV and James Dockins of Phoenix, AZ. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Veterans Memorial Patio in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Judy Mustain officiating. Friends and family may sign the book on Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 12:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and can be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
