Obituary of Phyllis Stinson - Findley

Phyllis Stinson-Findley, 89, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
She was born July 19, 1926 at Edna, KS to Lewis L. and Millicent L. (Simons) Wilson. Phyllis grew and attended school in Edna, graduating from Edna High School, and Central Bible College in Springfield, MO.
In her early years she was a school teacher at Plainview School in Oklahoma south of Edna where she taught grades first thru eight. She later went to work in the office at Co-op Refinery. While working at the refinery she ate lunch at Mildred's Café where she met her future huband.
She married James "Jimmy" Stinson. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where her husband worked at the refinery and Phyllis was a homemaker. After their children were in school Phyllis started working in the office at the First Assembly of God for Pastor Pember. When Wal-Mart came to Coffeyville she became Manager of the Jewelry Department where she worked for a number of years. She then ventured to Western Publishing where she worked until retiring due to health problems. Her husband preceded her in death in 1981.
A few years after her husband's death she went to work part-time at Hardee's and met her 2nd husband Ray Findley. He preceded her in death after 10 years of marriage.
Phyllis later tutored students at the Adult Basic Education Center at Coffeyville Community College.
She attended the First Assembly of God most of her life. Phyllis was an active person, she enjoyed gardening, working with stained glass, sewing and embroidering, but most of all loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan Brakhage and husband Ron, Cathy Schaefer and husband Craig, and Janice Kahler and husband David; one son, Tim Stinson; nine grandchildren, Shane Brakhage, Craig (Lori) Brakhage, Emily (Josh) Chandler, Jared (Chelsea) Schaefer, T.J. (Amanda) Stinson, Jessica (Miles) Sommers, Jacob Stinson, Kayla Bridwell, and Matthew (Abby) Kahler; five great-grandchildren, Hayden and Kaylee Chandler, Hudson Schaefer, Chase and Madilynn Sommers; and two step-children and their families.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Teal, Gwendolyn Lillibridge, and Glenna Lillibridge, and two brothers, Cecil Lillibridge and Robert "Bobby" Wilson.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the First Assembly of God with Pastor Ray Moran officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Monday, August 24th from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or the First Assembly of God; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
