I waited a while to post something about Bob. I have too many stories so will just suffice to say he was a memorable character. Some of our exchanges on ambulance runs to Caney ER resulted in some of the funniest times I had as a police officer/EMT. I knew Bob not only as an educated professional but as a man who could hold his own in an insult war of words (in a humor setting). The old man was a one of a kind.

We were so sad to hear of the Dr. Bob's passing. I am forever grateful that he was able to come to Mom's hundredth birthday last October and bring Cindie with him. Mom always referred to him as Dr. Bob. From earliest memories visits and letters, we always felt a part of our "American family". I have many of the letters written by Dr. Bob & Betty dating back to the early fifties - so many memories. It was always a joy to read about his many travels with the great love he had for his family shining through. I have an envelope with $10 in it from Bob & my husband, Tom, for a bet they made concerning the outcome of your elections in 2016 - I enjoy a laugh every time I see it. You are all in our thoughts, hearts and prayers. Love from your Canadian cousins, Dorothy (Moore) Barker, Tom & Velma Murphy.

My deepest condolences to all the family, Bob and I became friends at K-State. One time I took him home to his parents house in Topeka where we stayed all night. I remember Bob and Betty in their trailer house and the birth of Steve. Being a bachelor, I didn't have much of an idea what to give as a newborn present and finally decided on a Teddy Bear. During the 2d and 3d years of medical school, we lived in the same block. Bob would cut my hair (saving money) He, Bob Delphia and I were cadaver partners. When we 1st got our M.D. degrees we would make some money by giving physicals for life insurance companies---sometimes in filling station bathrooms with either Betty or Joan Delphia coming along as nurses. Bob and Betty, Jerry and Ruth Starkey and Hope and I attend the same Methodist Church. I also remember him making
making "home brew" too.
My daughter, Jane, had her preceptorship with him in Caney. Bob was full of jokes and pranks. He worked at many odd jobs during the school years--once even as a milk man. Chet Bare

How we will miss Bob and his smiling face. You all have so much to be thankful for -- the years, the memories, the trips, and the love you have received from this man.
He gave so much of himself to others, and we were able to share much of the same things. Know he must have been away from home helping others at times you would have liked to have him around. We thank you for sharing him with us.
Your parents are reunited again, he once again has a healed body, and is in the presence of Our Lord. Oh what more could we ask.
May you find peace, comfort in the love of others. So sorry we won't be there to share these memories in person. Our time is taking us out of town would so like to be there.
Please know I will be there in spirit.
Jo Lynn

We are on a journey ourselves (on our way back from the west coast), so Larry and I will not be able to attend the service tomorrow, but you are all in our thoughts. We enjoyed knowing both your parents over the years as latter day residents of "The Hill" and particularly during the construction of the community center. He and your mom were both very fine people.
