Johnnie Eugene Henry, 65, of rural Liberty, KS passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. He was born April 17, 1950, at Independence, KS to John and Alice (Mishler) Henry. Johnnie grew up east of Liberty where he attended Billings Grade School and Labette County High School in Altamont where he was active in FFA. On March 25, 1970, he married Sandra Sallee at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home east of Liberty where Johnnie farmed and ranched. Johnnie had a passion for the farm, and caring for his cattle. He loved spending time with his family, going to ballgames to watch his daughters and later his grandchildren play, watching the Kansas City Royals and Green Bay Packers games, and hunting. He was a member of the Kansas Cattleman's Assoc., and NRA. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Henry of the home; two daughters, Tara Stewart, and Brandy Thiesing and husband Justin both of rural Liberty; his mother, Alice Dennis of Coffeyville; five grandchildren, Aubri Stewart, Karsyn Stewart, Teige Thiesing, Tyler Thiesing, and Colton Thiesing; one brother and one sister. He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry and his step-father, Veryl Dennis in 2008. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, KS. Friends may sign the register book on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Labette County High School FFA Chapter(please make checks payable to U.S.D. #506 Foundation, on memo line put Johnnie Henry Memorial), or the Alzheimer's Assoc.; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
