Katherine M. Kistler, 99, passed away in Coffeyville, Kansas on Sunday, September 13, 2015. She was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on January 13, 1916, the daughter of David and Lena McGrath. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended Holy Name Catholic School. She then attended the Ursuline Academy in Paola, Kansas for two years before returning to Coffeyville where she graduated from Field Kindley High School. After graduation, she worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for seven years. On August 21, 1941 she was united in marriage to William L. Kistler at Holy Name Catholic Church where she remained a member until her death. Katherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member and past President of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and a member of the Pink Lady at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her son, William D. Kistler and wife Nancy of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son, Bobby, her loving husband, William, and nine siblings. A Rosary Vigil Service followed by Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday September 21, 2015 at Holy Name Catholic Church, Coffeyville with Father Chad Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, September 20, 2015 between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic Church. Contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed to David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Windsor Place for the love, kindness, care and support they provided.
