Obituary of Marvin W. Kriebel

Marvin W. Kriebel, 84, of Afton, OK former longtime Coffeyville, KS resident passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Grand Lake Villa in Grove, OK.
He was born on September 16, 1931, at Coffeyville, KS to Arthur and Nellie E. (Bubb) Kriebel. Marvin grew up and attended Coffeyville schools graduating from Field Kindley High School.
On January 8, 1972, he married Dixie Abramson at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Marvin was employed in the Research and Development Division of John Deere Coffeyville Works formerly Funk Mfg. until he retired in 1991, and Dixie worked at Brown Furniture for many years. In 1994 they moved there home near Afton, OK at Grand Lake.
Marvin attended Christ Church in Grove, OK and was a member of the Bernice, OK Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years. After moving to the lake Marvin built three boat docks. He was a former member of a Car Club, was an auto mechanic and fished. But most all Marvin loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie of the home; two daughters, Dy Kleier and husband Johnny of Tyro, KS, and Gloria Garretson and husband Ron of Coffeyville, KS; three sons, Marshall Kriebel and wife Debbie of Bartlesville, OK, Kevin Kriebel and wife Annette of Paradise, CA, and Steve Kriebel of Hutchinson, KS; son-in-law, Terry Smith of Wichita, KS; 19 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Diane Elizabeth Smith; one son, Marvin W. Kriebel, Jr.; one granddaughter, Sarah LeeAnn Smith; four brothers, and three sisters.
A Memorial Service celebrating Marvin's life will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 at the First Church of God, 4th St. and South Cline Rd in Coffeyville with Pastor Mark Wilson officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 27th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following Marvin's wishes after the visitation cremation will take place.
