Obituary of Meredith J. O'Connor

Meredith J. O'Connor, 87, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Windsor Place. She was born on May 27, 1928, at Vinita, OK to Gabe and Beulah (Miller) Mitchem. Meredith grew up and attended school in Vinita, graduating from Vinita High School. On June 20, 1947 she married Melvin Lee O'Connor at Columbus, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Vinita, moving to Fort Scott, KS in 1962, then to Coffeyville in 1968. Meredith was a member of Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, crossword puzzles and word games, but most of all loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Melvin of the home; one daughter, Karen Kneedler and husband Jim of Edna, KS; two grandsons, Chris Kneedler and Corey Kneedler; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Westside Christian Church with Pastor Mike Elrod officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
