Obituary of Dortha M. Soles

Dortha M. Soles, 97, of Arlington, Texas formerly of Coffeyville, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Brookdale Pecan Park in Arlington. Dortha was born on August 7, 1918 in Independence, Kansas to James P. Jackson and Lola M. (Stauffer) Jackson-Washabaugh. She grew up in Independence where she received her high school education. On June 4, 1938 she married Harold R. Soles, Sr. in Coffeyville, Kansas. Following their marriage the couple made Coffeyville their home. Harold preceded her in death on September 5, 1967. In December of 2007 she moved to Arlington, Texas. Dortha worked at the Parsons Ammunition Plant for 18 years, the Cherryvale Sewing Factory and at Independence Automotive. She attended the Coffeyville Church of Christ and the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas. She enjoyed reading and walking; loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Harold R. Soles, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Judith A. Soles of Neosho, Missouri, Charlotte K. Soles of Hauula, Hawaii, Sandra S. Fisher and husband, Bob of Arlington, Texas; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Richardson; daughter-in-law, Bernice McShane; one granddaughter, Sarah Soles; a brother and three sisters. Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Church of Christ located at 11th Street and Siggins in Coffeyville, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Friends may call on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 11th and Siggins St. in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ Senior Housing contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
