Sedan - Lois Ellen Cole, age 81, of rural Elk City, Kansas died Monday, September 10, 2007 at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Lois was born April 20, 1926 near Hominy, Oklahoma to Charles L. Sr. and Anice Ellen (Young) Chambers. She moved with her family to rural Pawhuska, Oklahoma in 1940. On June 23, 1943, she married Raymond "Buck" Cole in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. They worked on the Osage Ranch until 1955 when they moved east of Sedan, Kansas. Bucked preceded her in death in 1975. Lois remained on the farm the rest of her life. Lois was independent, energetic and talented. She worked for about ten years at Electra Manufacturing but mostly devoted her energy to her Lord, her family and her home. She was a charter member of Lone Cherry Baptist Church of rural Havana where she served faithfully. She is survived by two sons Charles Cole and his wife Nancy of Mequon, Wisconsin and Gary Cole and his wife Darby of rural Chautauqua County; four grandchildren Kathleen Bravi and her husband Colin of Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, Christopher Cole and his wife Amy of Cumming, Georgia, Drew Stephenson and her husband Jeff of Bartlesville,, Oklahoma and Callie Cole of Overland Park, Kansas; five great-grandchildren, Carson, Lily, Grace, Bryce and Carsyn; one sister, Betty Harty and her husband Finn of Salem, Oregon; one brother, Charley Chambers of rural Elk City; one sister-in-law, Maxine Frey of Prague, Oklahoma and one brother-in-law, Wilson Cole of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2007 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday at the Lone Cherry Baptist Church in rural Havana, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Lone Cherry Baptist Church in rural Havana, Kansas with Brother Jim Hardin and Pastor Kris Smilko officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Lone Cherry Baptist Church, the Midwest Organ Bank and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
