Obituary of James C Riley

James C. Riley "Jim" age 82 left his earthly home on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri attended by his loving family while listening to the music of his son Justin, who preceded him in death.
Jim was born to Sam and Henrietta (Shaw) Riley on February 27, 1933 at Nowata, Oklahoma. He attended Nowata Grade School, before moving to Coffeyville, Kansas where he attended Longfellow School and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School with the Class of 1952. He earned his Degree from Coffeyville Community College.
Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 in Kaiserslautern, Germany as an electrician in the 984th Engineer Co. (Field Maintenance Division) for eighteen months retaining military status in Army Signal Corp until 1961.
On December 27, 1956 in Nowata, Oklahoma he was married to Catherine Price, who survives of the home. Three sons were born to them Brett Riley, Chris Riley and Justin Riley.
He worked at Moon-Hill Electric Service Co. in Coffeyville for over thirty seven years. He then worked for John Deere Coffeyville Plant for 11 years, retiring in May of 1999. Jim was a Deacon and member of the First Christian Church of Coffeyville and a member of the Cowboy Capital Fellowship in Lenapah, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Edna Round Up Club and Tornado Sideliners. He served on the board of the Historical Society and maintained the grounds of the Brown Mansion for five years after retirement.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his sons, Brett Riley of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Chris Riley and wife Deidra of Baxter Springs, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Gina Riley McBride and husband, Dale of Tyro, Kansas; grandchildren, Samuel Riley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mickey Riley of Worcester, Massachusetts, Henry Riley and Anna Riley both of Baxter Springs, Jackson Riley of Clearwater, Florida; Brad Thomison of Wichita, Kansas , Val (Thomison) and Nick Gehrer of Manhattan, Kansas; sister, Etta Jo (Riley) Montgomery of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Henrietta; his younger brother, Raymond Lee Riley and his loving son, Justin who preceded him in 2010.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. at the Cowboy Capital Fellowship Church in Lenapah, Oklahoma. Justin McKee will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Lenapah.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to sign the guest register. The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Cowboy Capital Fellowship; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
