Obituary of Laura M. VanTeighen

Laura M. VanTeighen, 83,of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday morning, December 16, 2015, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 13, 1932, at Tulsa, OK to John Henry and Mary Afton (Riley) Andres. Laura grew up and attended school in Liberty and Independence, graduating from Independence High School in 1950. In 1950, she married D.E. VanTeighen. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their four children. They were later divorced. Laura attended Coffeyville Beauty School, and for many years owned and operated her beauty shop Laura's House of OZ at 3rd and Elm. Laura was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Rosary Leader, and served on the Stewardship Council. She was a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20 Ladies Auxiliaries serving both organization as President and District President, and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Laura loved spending time with her family. Survivors include one son, Darreld D. "Butch" VanTeighen of Coffeyville; two daughters, Marcia Scott and husband Randy of Coffeyville, and Pam Soles of Liberty; two brothers, John L. Andres and wife Nancy of Lemont, IL, and David R. Andres and wife Julia of Casa Grande, AZ; one sister, Gloria Weber of Newton, KS; eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Judy D. VanTeighen; and one sister, Mary Ann Reynolds. A Rosary Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow with Father Chad Arnold officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Following Laura's wishes cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Holy Name Catholic Church or Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
